The GAA’s proposed changes for football were a big topic for conversation on the Twitter-machine...
Edwin McGreal @edmcgreal
The only good thing that I can say about the proposed rule changes for football is the GAA are not afraid of change. Don’t think I can say anything positive of any of the five proposals, save for, perhaps, the sin bin.
John Fogarty @JohnFogartyIrl
It’s going to be a tough sell to convince Dublin that some of these rule changes aren’t aimed at tackling their dominance. The motive behind them looks genuine
but perception counts. #GAA
Kieran Cunningham @KCsixtyseven
If that kick-out rule change comes in, there’s a strong case for playing Jack McCaffrey in midfield.
Cahair O’Kane @CahairOKane1
The negativity around the proposed rule changes is comical. Hasn’t been an hour and the whole thing’s been written off. Then people complain because the game isn’t a spectacle. The changes are worth trialling. If they don’t work then try something else. But action is needed #GAA
Pat Nolan @pat_nolan
Proposed rule changes pretty radical when you put them all together. Too radical to trial throughout the 2019 league and then expect teams to almost play a different sport in the championship in my opinion. #GAA
The Cill Dara Times @CillDaraTimes
These proposed Gaelic Football Rule Changes are not refereeable at club level by just one man or woman. Will lead to absolute chaos #Gaa
Michael McMullan @malmcmullan
As if referees don’t have enough on their plate without more rule changes. Some might be achievable if 4th official, linesman are allowed to have input. Not much help in a bottom of the table relegation battle with the ref there leaf alone #GAA
Gillian Murphy @Gill_Murphy
The proposed #GAA rule change re limiting the number of consecutive handpasses to 3 is ridiculous to me. How is a player supposed to remember how many times the ball was handpassed before it got to him? Hard on refs too.
Peter McNamara @PeterMcNamara_
Restricting teams to three consecutive handpasses is just plain stupid. Could see players kick-passing handpassing distances... #GAA
Eoin O’Riordan @EoinORiordan
Delighted with the news that something is finally being done about the handpass issue in football. A step closer to making our sport more about skills than tactics #GAA
Dougie Corbett @DougieCorb62
#GAA Leave the game as it is,, change for change sake is stupid
