AFTER losing the last two deciders the big question for ‘The Green’ ahead of the new campaign is can they mount another sustained challenge for the School’s first title since 2007? Marc Ó Sé, Mike Tim O’Sullivan and Nealie O’Sullivan remain over the senior side as a tricky three team group involving Cork city Schools Colaiste Chriost Rí and St Francis College, Rochestown. A loss to the Sem in the O’Sullivan Cup has been their only match of note so far as there is an interesting mix to their panel this season.

Sean Quilter, Devon Burns, Tadhg Brick, Eoin Carr, Daire Keane, Fergal O’Brien Josh O’Keeffe, Daniel O’Rourke, Jordan Kissane, Armin Heinrich, Luke Chester, Darragh Reen and Keith Purcell are some of their panellists for a campaign where a lot of eyes will be on them again. Mike Tim O’Sullivan says the Green hope a bit of freshness in their line-up can bring them back into the business end of the competition once more.

“Losing the Finals the last two years has been very disappointing for us especially when we felt they were there for the taking and we had the momentum we wanted built up for them but we’re delighted to be back at it again and there is a energy there from the freshness you get with some new players in the panel,” the Tuosist native said. There are no players available from the U-19 change but O’Sullivan feels the Frewen Cup should be moved up to U-17 to match the new age for Minor.

“The age change is of no benefit to us this year but I do think there should be more done to make the Frewen Cup similar to Minor level (U-17) to stop the players in the six month age bracket between U-16½ which Frewen is but not old enough for Corn Uí Mhuirí missing out on showing their worth for Minor level.”
