Clanmaurice win through to Munster Final

CLANMAURICE travelled to Gurteen in Ennis on Sunday to face St. Joseph’s Doora Barefield in the semi-final of the Munster Junior Club Camogie Championship.
The first half was a tight and low-scoring affair and the visitors held a 0-3 to 0-1 half-time lead. However, the second half commenced with a greater intensity as Clanmaurice found the net twice through Sara Murphy and Alanna Maunsell and Doora Barefield replied with a green flag of their own to leave the score at the 40 minute mark, Clanmaurice 2-4 St. Joseph’s Doora Barefield 1-4.
With eight minutes remaining on the clock, still only a goal separated the sides, 2-6 to 1-6, but Clanmaurice finished strongly to record a 2-8 to 1-6 win. Patrice Diggin was top scorer for Clanmaurice with five frees followed by Alanna Maunsell with 1-1, Sara Murphy with 1-0 and Jackie Horgan and Aoife Behan both raised white flags.
In the other semi-final Crecora of Limerick travelled to play Dungarvan of Waterford and emerged victorious so Clanmaurice will face the Limerick girls in the provincial decider on October 28.
