BEREAVEMENTS

Unfortunately another sad week in the Community with the sad news of the passing of John Foran R.I.P. of Pulleen, Tarbert who died on Tuesday 9th October last. While being in the Tarbert Parish John and his late wife Annie R.I.P. and their Family would frequent more often with the local community, as they were closer to the local village, but were very popular in both parishes. John was a very kind and humorous man who enjoyed life and particularly liked the outdoor life having been raised in the country in the townland of Shroneowen in the parish of Ballydonoghue where he and his siblings enjoyed a happy childhood. The way of life in those early childhood years was working in the farm or in the bog and that is where the love of the outdoor life stemmed from. However like so many others John in his teenage years decided to immigrate to England and there himself and his future late wife worked hard before returning to Ireland in the early 70’s. Both himself and Annie and their two children Jacqueline and Garry soon settled in Pulleen and having timed their return perfectly John was soon employed in the construction of Tarbert Island followed by another spell in Aughnish and then on to Moneypoint which were to be great employers of his for the next two to three decades. He also returned to the ESB in Tarbert for intervals of temporary work during overhauls and outages in later years. John loved the company of others, and he loved to meet and talk with people whether they were young people or adults. He was a very humorous man that loved fun and banter and he greeted everybody with a glowing smile that left a lasting impression on everyone that he met. He was a passionate G.A.A. man and enjoyed and marvelled in the plights of many a Kerry Team both from the past to the present. Indeed there was many an All Ireland Day that we would meet both John and his late brother Pat in those familiar landmarks in Dublin such as Barry’s or the Belvedere or the Gresham before and after those wonderful games. His pride in wearing that Green & Gold colours on All Ireland Day was second to none and his delight and anxiety during those magnificent All Irelands of the late 70’s 80’s and 90’s were something he held and cherished all during his life. He was also very passionate about his political believes and he was a staunch republican who was very informative and could talk and relay many historical moments that had occurred in Irish History down the years. While John’s passing has created a huge void in the lives of all those that had the pleasure of knowing him, it is to his family that our prayers and thoughts go to at this sad time and especially their huge loss in having lost a dear mother and father within such a short few months of each other. To his loving daughter Jacqueline and son Garry, daughter in law Kathleen, grandchildren Shane and Katelynn. brother-inlaw Michael, sisters-in-law Marie and Elsie, nieces, nephews, extended family relatives and wide circle of friends and neighbours that we extend our heartfelt sympathies at this sad time. John’s body lay in Repose at Lynch’s Funeral Home, Main Street, Ballylongford on last Friday evening, October 12th, with removal from his residence in Pulleen on Saturday morning last, arriving at St. Mary’s Church, Tarbert for 11am Requiem Mass. Funeral afterwards to Lislaughtin Abbey, Ballylongford. Sympathy is also extended to the Pat Griffin and Family of Kilcolgan Tarbert on the sad passing of Pat’s brother, Tom R.I.P. late of Cloghers, Tralee, and Dingle who died on Friday 12th October last. Tom’s body lay in Repose at O’Connors Funeral Home, Dingle on Sunday evening last, October 14th, with Remains arriving at St. John’s Church, Tralee on Monday morning last for 12 noon Requiem Mass and funeral afterwards to St. Brendan’s Cemetery, Dingle.
