Sean O’Connell registered the first point with a free and a minute later Connor Cox levelled matters. Sean O’Connell scored his second free and David Foran rattled the Listowel net after a fast passage of play involving Barry Mahony, Eoin O’Connell and Paudie Quille who passed to Foran . David Foran slotted Senans third point for a lead of 1-03 to 0-01 at end of first quarter. Listowel rallied and punished Senans with five points (f) from Conor Cox. David Behan kicked Senans final score of the half leaving Senans leading 1-04 to 0-06 at the break. Listowel reeled Senans back from the throw in with another Cox free and then disaster for Senans as Listowel were awarded a penalty and again Conor Cox punished the home side. Listowel were now in comfortable lead however Sean O’Connell pulled two points back for Senans heading into the final quarter, a ball into Sean Weir who had travelled from Scotland after the shinty match led to a goal mouth scramble and David Foran punished Listowel with his second goal. Heading into the closing stages it was nip and tuck and at the final whistle the sides were level 2-10 to 1-13.

Extra time followed and in the first period of extra time Sean O’Connell proved accurate again with three points to Listowel’s two. In the final ten minutes Sean Weir slotted two points to the delight of the home fans and Senans move on to the next round with a three point victory 2-15 to 1-15.
