PAUL GEANEY –
Player of the year
DINGLE
This was the year of the forward, this year was the year of goals galore and nobody embodied that more than Dingle’s talisman and number fourteen, Paul Geaney.
After a disappointing season with the Kerry senior footballers, Geaney has come to life back with his native Dingle, showing all the kinds of predatory instincts that have made him amongst the most feared forwards in the game.
He scored a scarcely believable 9-18 in the championship and, while he didn’t have the best of times of it in Sunday’s final, there were extenuating circumstances. For one thing he came up against the best team in the competition and for another he was a marked man in a huge way. Paul Geaney was Dingle’s Plan A and Plan B.
At the moment he looks a player rejuvenated after the disappointment of last summer and will certainly be a huge asset to in-coming Kerry boss Peter Keane.
