- By FERGUS DENNEHY

A NEW stage adaptation of one of James Joyce’s most famous works will have a two night run in Siamsa Tíre later this week.

‘A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man’ - which tells the story of Stephen Dedalus as he focuses on his spiritual rebellion of and his restless search for artistic self-expression - will be performed on Friday November 2 and Saturday November 3.

The central role of Stephen Dedalus in the performance will be played by multiple members of the ensemble, both male and female.

Billed as a “dynamic” and “very modern” adaptation and new take on the classic and seminal novel, this is not one that Joyce fans will want to miss out on seeing performed live.

To add even more of a local twist to proceedings, the play will feature the talents of two Kerry actors in the shape of Amy Conroy & Kieran Roche.

Tickets are now currently available to purchase from Siamsa Tíre’s box office; they will cost between €19 and €21.

The play is directed by Ronan Phelan and will start at 8pm.
