Harvest celebration for Blackwater Women’s Group
IT’S a time of year when the Blackwater Women’s Group make the Kenmare Bay Hotel the focal point for a well-deserved get together. Over 150 people enjoyed an evening’s entertainment, while also celebrating and reflecting on another hugely important year for the group.
Blackwater Women’s Group was formed over 16 years ago and comprises of over 60 women from late teens and upwards. It’s an active community group that engages in a wide range of educational, cultural, social and artistic endeavours, while various skillsbased tutorials are also provided.
“We enjoyed the evening, and the new renovations to the hall at the Kenmare Bay Hotel made it even more special,” said Mairead Robinson of the Blackwater Women’s Group.
As well as enjoying a meal and live music, Mairead organised a quiz which kept everyone on their toes with some fun. People even travelled from overseas to attend the event which is a measure of its ongoing success.
“People really enjoy it, and it’s a chance to get dressed up and meet people. We want to hold this event in November if we can as Christmas comes on very fast and people are busy. It’s always a success and long may it continue,” Mairead said.
