Jan Hammer Was (Not Was) ‘You Win Again’ marked a return to form for global superstars the Bee Gees after a particularly barren spell in the eighties. A hit in many countries, it was their first UK number one in more than eight years and it made them the first group to top the charts in the UK in each of three decades - the sixties, seventies and eighties. Instantly recognisable from the opening drum sounds (first demoed in Maurice Gibb’s garage), it stayed at the top in the UK for four weeks, preventing George Michael’s ‘Faith’ from reaching number one.
