MORAN’S WEST KERRY SFC SEMI-FINAL

Dingle 1-15 An Ghaeltacht 0-11

DINGLE defeated last year’s champions An Ghaeltacht in Páirc Sheáin Uí Bharóid, Lispole last Sunday. This victory means that Dingle will now play Annascaul in the final of the Moran’s of Dingle West Kerry Senior Football Championship 2018.

Playing with the aid of the wind it was Dingle through a Billy O’Connor point from play who opened the scoring. A Tomás Sheehy point from a free kick and a Gavin H Curran point from a forty-five gave Dingle a three point lead with ten minutes played.

An Ghaeltacht got on the scoreboard with a Roibeard Ó Sé point from play. Tomás Sheehy kicked a point from play for Dingle and the score after fifteen minutes of play was An Ghaeltacht 0-1 to 0-4 Dingle.

Another Tomás Sheehy point from play, a Paul Geaney point from a free kick and a Mikey Geaney point from play gave Dingle a six point lead. Dingle lost Barry O’Sullivan through injury shortly after but points from play from Paul Geaney and Tom O’Sullivan extended their lead to eight points.

Seán Mícheál Ó Conchúir kicked a point from a free kick for An Ghaeltacht and when referee Donal Casey blew the whistle for half time the scoreboard in Páirc Sheáin Uí Bharóid read An Ghaeltacht 0-2 to 0-9 Dingle.

An Ghaeltacht opened the scoring in the second half with a Roibeard Ó Sé point from play from the restart. Points from free kicks from Seán Mícheál Ó Conchúir and Dara Ó Sé had the Dingle lead down to four point with less than five minutes of the second half played.

Eanna Ó Conchúir with a point from play and another Dara Ó Sé point from a free kick left them trailing by two points. Colm Ó Muircheartaigh kicked a point from play to leave An Ghaeltacht only one behind and should have drew level at this stage, but some good defending by Dingle stopped a Cian Ó Murchú run and when Dingle broke up field Eoin Murphy was at hand to kick a point from play that steadied the Dingle challenge.

The score after 15 minutes played in the second half, An Ghaeltacht 0-8 to 0-10 Dingle.

Shortly after Dingle were awarded a penalty and Paul Geaney gave An Ghaeltacht keeper Tomas Mac an tSaoir no chance when he scored the game’s only goal. A Mikey Geaney point from a forty-five restored Dingle’s lead to six points.

An Ghaeltacht rallied again and an Adam Mac Amhlaoibh point from play, a Dara Ó Sé point from a free kick and a Roibeard Ó Sé point from play reduced Dingle’s lead to three points.

Dingle responded with points from play from Paul Devane, Tom O’Sullivan, Tomás Sheehy and another point from a free kick from Tomás Sheehy and when referee Donal Casey blew the whistle for full time Dingle were through to another final.
