COISTE NA NÓG - What a month it’s been for our U16s. Having won the North Kerry Football Championship only a few weeks ago, they found themselves contesting for the North Kerry Hurling Championship this week. On Tuesday night they played Abbeydorney under lights in Caherslee in a playoff game to determine which team would meet Ballyheigue in the final. It was a tough encounter and the teams were evenly matched with both teams taking the lead at various intervals, but Ballyduff managed to pull away in the last quarter of the match winning on a scoreline of 2 -14 to 3 - 9. All thoughts immediately turned to Sunday’s final knowing that Ballyheigue would be an equally tough opponent, however it was to be Ballyduff’s day going into half time six points ahead, and despite a late flurry by Ballyheigue it ended Ballyduff 1-13 Ballyheigue 1-9. Congratulations to captain JP O’Carroll, players and mentors and special congratulations to Kevin Goulding on his Man of the Match award.
