The Community was once again saddened on Thursday morning November 1st on learning of the sad passing of William Keane of Lenamore, Ballylongf­ord. Willie as he was more affectiona­tely known died peacefully on Wednesday night October 31st in the wonderful care of the staff at Kerry University Hospital, Tralee surrounded by his loving family. Everybody will remember him as a very jolly and humorous man who enjoyed life, and always had a cheerful smile when you would meet him. Willie was a long time employee of Kerry County Council and had in recent years enjoyed retirement after giving decades of service to the Semi State body. Indeed there was not a road or a house that he did not know in the North Kerry area as his work made him aware of where everybody lived. But he also enjoyed the social side of life, and his love for dancing and music was unquestion­able. He took part in numerous Waltzing and Dancing Competitio­ns throughout the Country and won numerous prizes for his excellent dancing. Christmas time was also special to him as he enjoyed the Wrenboys calling to his home a custom that he grew up with and took part in for many years. But he was above all a great family man and he took great pride and joy in his family, however the family chain was dealt a severe blow when Willie and his daughters Catherine and Ann lost their dear wife and mother Mary some years back. But despite the severe shock and void in their lives Willie still kept the family in high spirits and with his extended family and especially his grandchild­ren which he adored,
