COOKERY DEMONSTRAT­ION

Mark Doe will be in Scartaglin Heritage Centre on this Thursday night November 15th when he will give a talk and demonstrat­ion on cooking for the Christmas Season. Starting time is 7.30pm and this is in conjunctio­n with Scartaglin Ladies Football Club and will act as a fundraiser. Mark Doe is a top class chef and this should be a very informativ­e and enlighteni­ng lecture and demonstrat­ion. Tickets cost €10 and are available from club officers.

HANDED DOWN

“Dan Murphy and The Failte Bar, Abbeyfeale” is the subject of the Handed Down programme (Number 2 in Series 5) which will take place in Scartaglen Heritage Centre on this Saturday night November 17th. The presenter is Donal Murphy, son of the late Dan. We take a trip down memory lane to hear the story of boxplayer Dan Murphy from Knocknagos­hel Co Kerry R.I.P .Dan returned to Ireland after emigrating to Birmingham and bought a Bar in Abbeyfeale in 1976 and started holding Irish Traditiona­l Music gigs and sessions. The impact that this era had on the music of West Limerick is a great story and will be presented by his son the acclaimed boxplayer Donal Murphy who has reached fame all over the World. We have special guest Eoin Stan O Sullivan to speak about his role as Sliabh Luachra Musician in Residence and also top class guest musicians Maura O Connor Abbeyfeale, Lisa and Tosh O Sullivan from Freemount, Singer John Walsh Scartaglin and Young Musicians Caoimhe Murphy and Lauren O Connor, Keeva O Donnell, Emma and Marie Flynn. Starting time is 8pm and admission is E8.

AFTERNOON OF PRAYER

The next Afternoon of Prayer in Scartaglin Church will be on Sunday next November 18th, when Janice and Moss Carrig will be present. Starting time as usual is 2.30pm with the Rosary followed by Divine Mercy at 3pm. Everyone Welcome.

The final Diocesan collection in aid of the World Meeting of Families and Bringing Pope Francis to Ireland, will be taken up at masses this weekend.

There will be mass for the Holy Souls in Scartaglen Church on Monday night next November 19th at 8pm. Everyone welcome.

GAA ANNUAL MEETING

The AGM of Scartaglen GAA Club will take place in the Clubhouse on Sunday December 9th at 4pm. All members are invited to attend. Nomination­s and motions should be submitted to Club Secretary Noreen Rahilly before Sunday December 6th.
