Black Friday with a refreshing charity twist at Coco clothing store

- By FERGUS DENNEHY

LOVE it or hate it, there’s no escaping the phenomenon that are the post-Thanksgiving ‘Black Friday’ sales.

It is a day when crowds flock to stores in the hope of finding the best bargain.

Never one to buy too much into the Black Friday hype however is Jennifer Stack of Coco’s clothing store in Listowel and so, this year, she decided to undertake a different approach to the day.

In the spirit of the season, she decided that she was going to donate 50 per cent of all the profits raised from her sale on the day to the Áras Mhuire Nursing Home in Listowel.

“My husband was involved in a fundraiser for the nursing home the year before last,,” said Jennifer when she spoke to The Kerryman on Tuesday.

“I think it is a fantastic facility in the town; we are very lucky to have it, and Trish and her staff back there are incredible people, they really are,” she continued.

“What they do for the residents over there and for the families of the residents, it’s just brilliant, so I just think they are very worthy recipients,” she said.

While Jennifer hadn’t yet reached a finally tally on how much she has raised for the nursing home, she said that this was just her first step in continued fundraising the facility.

“I want to do more to help them down the line,” Ms Stack added.
