Listowel property in child porn raid

A PROPERTY in the Listowel area has been raided as part of a national garda crackdown on the possession and distribution of child pornography.

The Kerry Divisional Protection Service Unit, opened last month, helped carry out the raid in Kerry.

Between February 1 and 4, searches were carried out in 23 properties across 11 counties as part of the ongoing Operation Ketch, targeting suspects involved in the possession and distribution of child pornography via social network sites and file-sharing networks.

Digital materials were seized, and these will now be sent forward for forensic examination.

No arrests were made but Gardaí say charges are likely to follow. Further follow-up searches are also expected “in the next few days”.
