Mike inducted into Kilmoyley Hall of Fame Mike Curran honoured for years of service to Kilmoyley GAA on a proud night at Social
THE great and the good of Kilmoyley Hurling Club made the Ballyroe Heights Hotel their own on Friday last as the famous club celebrated its 57th annual social in style.
The evening was an opportunity for club personnel to take stock of another season on the field while looking forward to 2019 with the aim of winning back the Neilus Flynn Cup and strengthening its younger ranks.
The main event of the evening was the awards and presentations made to those who proudly serve the club on and off the field. A crowd of around 150 people acknowledged each recipient for their dedication to Kilmoyley. Kieran McCarthy won the Senior Player of the Year award, while James McCarthy took the honour for the Intermediate Player of the Year. There was a rousing reception when Michael Curran received the Hall of Fame Award, while guests of honour on the night were Kilmoyley players with All-Ireland Minor B medals with Kerry.
A testament to the club’s commitment to winning was in evidence when it came to the medal presentations. The senior players just lost out in a tight contest with Lixnaw in the 2018 County Final. But players from the victorious Intermediate North Kerry League and Championship teams received their medals, as did the senior players for winning the North Kerry League.
“It was one of the best socials I can recall in many a year,” said Club Chairman Joe Walsh. “Even though the Neilus Flynn Cup has been a prominent guest at our socials in recent years, we very much hope he’ll be with us again following a successful campaign in 2019. All in all, it was a good year for the club.”
Patrons enjoyed themselves late into the night and Joe thanked the management and staff of the Ballyroe Heights
Hotel for hosting a great social.
