Listowel U-10 girls win Indoor Soccer gold at Community Games finals

IT was another fantastic weekend of Community Games action this weekend with Indoor Soccer and Swimming.
INDOOR SOCCER U-10 GIRLS
COMMUNITY Games action continued with the Under-10 Girls Indoor Soccer competition at Duagh Sports & Leisure Complex with six teams played in a round robin format giving plenty of exciting games. Format: 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw. All games were exciting with plenty of skill on view.
In Round 1, Kenmare and Listowel drew 1-1, Duagh/Lyre defeated Milltown/Listry 5-0 and Ballyduff saw off Spa Fenit/ Barrow 4-1.
In Round 2, Kenmare and Spa Fenit/Barrow 3-3, Listowel defeated Milltown/Listry 2-0 and Duagh/Lyre saw off Ballyduff 1-0. This put Duagh/Lyre top of the table with 6 poi nts and Listowel in second place on 4 points.
In Round 3; Listowel got the better of Duagh/Lyre 4-1, Ballyduff saw off Kenmare 2-0 with Spa Fenit/Barrow and Milltown Listry drawing 1-1.
In Round 4, Listowel continued on their winning ways with victory over Ballyduff 4-1, Milltown/Listry and Kenmare played out a 0-0 draw with Duagh/Lyre keeping up the pressure on Listowel with victory over Spa Fenit/ Barrow by 5 goals to 1.
In Round 5, Ballyduff defeated Milltown/Listry 3-0, Kenmare & Duagh/Lyre played out an exciting draw 2-2 and Listowel proved too strong for Spa Fenit/ Barrow winning 4-1.
The league table put Kenmare in fourth place on 4 points to win the pewter medals, Ballyduff on 9 points in third place to win the bronze medals, Duagh/Lyre in second place on 10 points to win the silver medals, and Listowel the county gold medal winners on 13 points.
They now go on to represent Kerry at the provincial finals on Easter Saturday.
Final Result: 1st Listowel; 2nd Duagh/Lyre; 3rd; Ballyduff; 4th Kenmare.
SWIMMING
COMMUNITY Games action continued on Sunday with the County Finals of our Swimming competition – this is always a large competition with children from 30 areas competing. Results will be printed next week.
