TIDY TOWNS

Last year concern was expressed to Kerry County Council regarding the lack of any pedestrian crossing in the village and the speed of traffic through the village centre. It transpired that the Council had undertaken an analysis of pedestrian movement and deemed that a crossing was not needed. However, it was decided that an uncontrolled crossing would be established at the Causeway road/Fair Green/Glandore Gate corner. In October last year the Council began to undertake upgrading work on the footpaths in the village and this included dropping the pavement at this corner to facilitate an uncontrolled crossing. This work is still to be finalized but will include “line marking.”

The Council were also informed about concern over speeding traffic through the village and undertook a speed analysis survey in November. The analysis of this survey indicates that there are no speeding issues and therefore no traffic calming measures will be put in place. Anybody with concerns about these decisions can contact the Council on 066 7183588 or email roads@kerrycoco.ie
