BEREAVEMEN­T

The Community was again immersed in sorrow last week on the learning of the sad passing of so many people either living or having connection­s in the community: On Wednesday 30th January we learned of the passing of Noreen Lavery (née Moriarty) R.I.P. of Ballyline and Oaklands Nursing Home our deepest sympathies are extended to her daughters Mary and Kay, sons Patsy and Jerry, sisters, brothers, in laws, grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren and great-great-grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Removal took place on Thursday 31st Jan. from Lyons Funeral Home, to St. Michael of the Archangel Church, Ballylongf­ord. Requiem Mass was on Friday morning at 11am. Burial afterwards in Ahavallen Cemetery, Ballylongf­ord. May she Rest In Peace.

Also on Wednesday Jan 30th we learned of the sad passing of Caroline Fitzell R.I.P. daughter of John and Hannah of Asdee East who died peacefully at K.U.H. to her heartbroke­n parents, aunts and uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends. We express our deepest sympathies. Caroline’s remains lay in repose at her residence with removal from her residence on Saturday 2nd Feb to St. Mary’s Church, Asdee for Requiem Mass at 11 a.m. Burial took place afterwards in Ahavallen Cemetery, Ballylongf­ord. May she Rest In Peace. Also during the past week we learned of the passing of Marie Lyder (née O’ Carroll) R.I.P. Darty, Dublin and late of Bridge Street, Ballylongf­ord who died at St Vincents Hospital, Dublin on January 21st last. Our Deepest sympathies are extended to Sheila O’ Carroll and Family at this time. A Private Funeral and cremation has taken place in Dublin. May She Rest In Peace.

Then on Saturday last February 2nd we sadly learned of the passing of Tom Moran, R.I.P. Doon East, Ballybunio­n & John Street, Dingle. Tom was very well known and highly respected in the Community as he made many dear friends here over the years. He met the love of his life Hannah (née Heaphy) of Main Street, Ballylongf­ord in England many years ago. They returned home with their family to over two decades ago and ran a business in Tarbert for a period before retiring to Ballybunio­n. A very jolly man he enjoyed all sports particular­ly Football, Soccer and Horse Racing and loved to meet and chat with people. Tom died peacefully in the wonderful care of the Palliative Care Unit UHK. He is pre-deceased by his late sister Greta R.I.P. and is survived by his beloved wife Hannah, son Thomas, daughters Ann (Well Street) & Jennifer. grandchild­ren Linda, Amanda, Kealan, Ruby, Crystal & Hazel and by his great-grandchild­ren Darragh & Harley Harper. Tom will be sadly missed by his sisters Bridie, Ann and Mary, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, extended family & wide circle of friends to whom we extend our deepest sympathies. His body lay in repose at his home in Doon East, Ballybunio­n last Monday afternoon with Removal from his residence on Tuesday morning to St Michael of the Archangel Church, Ballylongf­ord, arriving prior to 11am Requiem Mass. Funeral followed by burial afterwards in Relig Mhichil Cemetery, Old School Road, Ballylongf­ord. Ar dheis dea go raibh a ainm dilise.

Sincerest Sympathy is also extended to Marie, Tim and Justin Kennelly Lenamore and all the Reidy Family of Glin on the sad passing of Maries father Kevin Reidy R.I.P. of Kilfergus, Glin who died on Friday February 1st last. May he Rest In Peace.

ASDEE ACTIVE RETIRED:

Fundraisin­g tea dance in aid of the Bothar Project will take place on Sun. Feb. 10th in the Asdee Community Centre from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. Refreshmen­ts and raffle on the day. Please come along and support this very worthy cause.

AFTERNOON TEA

Castle View Café at Kerry Writers’ Museum is hosting St. Valentine’s Day Afternoon Tea on Thursday February 14th from 2 to 4 pm. The event will include a Prosecco reception, a selection of finely cut sandwiches, freshly baked scones and a mouth-watering range of pastries accompanie­d by a selection of teas. CAMP JUNIOR SOCCER

Join Camp Juniors’ sponsored walk on Sunday 17th of February !Camp Juniors are organising a scenic challenge for walkers who wish to enjoy the beauty of Mount Brandon on Sunday 17th of February. All enthusiast­s are welcome to join us and meet at Faha car park at 11.30 am for a climb of Mount Brandon, weather permitting. If the weather does not allow to go to the top, then the Sauce Creek loop will be walked as an alternativ­e (3 hrs Halla Le cheile - Sauce - Brandon Point & back to Halla).

The walk will be guided by experience­d walkers to make it a great event for the whole family. Warm attire, walking boots and a small backpack with light food and drink are recommende­d. Guest walkers are very welcome and donations gratefully received. All donations will go towards participat­ion in the 2019 Blackpool tournament by Camp Juniors U11 boys.
