1. TRALEE 10 MILER AND 5K COMING UP ON FEBRUARY 16

ONE of the biggest events in Tralee this month is the upcoming Tralee 10 mile and 5k run which will take place on Saturday February 16.

The runs, which are the brain child of Michelle Greaney and Optimal Fitness Traee will start from 10am onwards that morning.

Registrati­on for the runs will cost €25 and €12 respective­ly; the run will in support of the Kerry Hospice Foundation.

2. ‘STRICTLY YOUNG DANCING’ IN BALLYROE

THE talented teens in the Tralee Musical Society are ready to prove themselves again when they take to the dancefloor in Ballyroe Heights Hotel this Saturday night, February 9.

Tickets for ‘Strictly Young Dancing’ will cost just €10 and are available to buy from all participat­ing schools and at Emma Quirke Hair Salon Tralee.

Doors open on the night at 7pm with the dancing fun starting at approximat­ely 8pm.

3. ST PATS LOOK BACK ON ITS SUCCESS

A SUSTAINED period of success for St Pat’s GAA club will be celebrated next weekend on Saturday February 16 in the Rose Hotel.

The club will look back on the period from 1989 to 1995 during which they won three County Championsh­ips, heir first St. Brendan’s Championsh­ips and Leagues, West Kerry Leagues with the Senior and Junior teams as well as their first Minor County League.

The nihgt will start at 8:30pm; tickets are €15 - call club chairman Jimmy Mulligan on 0876987700.

4. BOSCO APPEARING AT SIAMSA TÍRE

ONE of the biggest Irish TV stars of his generation, Bosco, will touch down in Siamsa Tíre next month in what is sure to be a fun filled and nostalgic day out for parents and children alike.

Tickets to see the cheeky, lovely, funny, slightly-cracked, irrepressi­ble Bosco live in show are on sale now from the Siamsa website and box office.

Tickets are €12 with the show itself taking place on February 9.

5. BLINDBOY BOATCLUB BRINGS PODCAST TO INEC

THE one and only Blindboy Boatclub is set to bring his podcast down to the INEC this coming Friday night, February 8.

This not-to-be-misse night will be held in the INEC Acoustic Club; tickets are €25.

Doors for the show open at 8:30 with the show itself starting at approximat­ely 9:30.

6. JASON BRYNE SET TO ENTERTAIN INEC

IRISH comedian Jason Bryne brings his latest and brand new show to the INEC on Saturday February 9.

Entitled ‘You Can Come In, But Don’t Start Anything’. Jason’s new show will take place in the Gleaneagle Ballroom at 8pm; tickets are €27.65.

7. SUPPORT KERRY AS THEY TAKE ON DUBLIN

SHOW your support for the Kerry team this weekend as they take on Dublin in Austin Stack Park.

Tickets may be sold out but be sure to get into the bars early to watch what will surely be a cracking game.

8. ‘THE CHASTITUTE’ BEING PERFORMED IN ABBEYFEALE

THE Chastitute’ by John B Keane will be performed by the Abbeyside Players in the Glórach Theatre this coming Thursday January 31.

Further shows will be held on February 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 and 10; the curtain will rise each night at 8pm.

9. EDDI READER TO PERFORM IN SIAMSA TÍRE

THE brilliant Eddi Reader returns to her beloved Siamsa Tíre later next month in what is sure to be a fantastic performanc­e and notto-be-missed.

With roots in Tralee, the former Fairground Attraction singer will perform in the famous Tralee venue on the night of Sunday February 17.

Eddi’s last performanc­e in Tralee was received to huge acclaim and there is no doubt that this next performanc­e will be just as good.

Tickets to her show will cost between €21 and €23 with the concert kicking off at 8pm.

10. GET EXERCISING THIS WEEKEND WITH PARKRUN

WHY not try to head down to take part in one of the many parkruns taking place around Kerry at the weekends? There are five parkruns in Kerry: Tralee, Killarney, Listowel, Inch Beach and the Tralee junior parkrun.

These free 5km events are run every weekend by volunteers and they have been proven to be extremely popular in improving both physical and mental health.

The Tralee. Listowel and Killarney parkruns are held every Saturday morning from 9:30am onwards while the Tralee Junior parkrun takes place on Sunday at 9:30am - these 2km events are aged for children from 4-14 years old. People can register and print off their barcode at parkrun.ie.
