JOHN MURPHY UNDER 12 CUP

THE first round of the John Murphy Cup continued during the week with six more teams booking their place in the last sixteen.

First up was the clash of Dingle Bay and Inter Kenmare. And the only goal of the game was scored by the visitors Liam O’Sullivan to put Inter through. MEK put in a great effort at home to Killarney Celtic A but it was the Hoops who progress 2-1.

Noah O’Shea put MEK ahead but Odhran O’Shea levelled matters before the break. And it was man of the match Oisin Fleming that grabbed the winner in the second half.

Killarney Celtic B enjoyed a strong first half against Fenit B and carried that form through the second half to go into the Round 2 hat with Fenit B, like all the first round losers, bar Premier teams, go into the Shield. Seán O’Mahoney, Jake Downing, Ronan Fahy, Eoin Murphy, Pa O’Brien and Kevin Looney were on the mark for Celtic with Seán Jeffers replying for MEK.

Killarney Athletic A progressed after defeating Ballyhar at Murt Scott Park thanks to goals from Luke Doolan, Liam Hennigan and Caolan Mitchell. Goals from Szymon Jesinski, Brian McCarthy and Cillian Coffey made it a good day for the Woodlawn club as Athletic C defeated Camp Juniors 5-2.

Seán Cox, Mathew Kennedy and Ronan McCarthy all scored twice in a 6-2 win over Tralee Dynamos C who had goals from Daniel Farmer and Ryan Onyekwere.

TOM HAYES UNDER 14 CUP

DINGLE Bay Rovers are into the next round after they saw off Fenit thanks to goals from Paddy Ryan, James Hoare and Seán Roche. Killarglin A saw off their club mates on the B team 4-1 in the Cup. The As’ goals came from Tim Mangan (2), Oisín Birmingham and Rian O’Sullivan.

HEALY FAMILY UNDER 15 CUP

LISTOWEL Celtic A defeated Killarney Celtic A at home with the goals coming from Adam Segal and Sam Cooke.

It was much tighter in the game between Ballyhar and Killarney Athletic. The game was tied at 3-3 after extra-time with the Killarney side eventually progressing 6-5 on penalties.

Athletic went 2-0 thanks to goals from Alex Hennigan and Seán Dineen.

But Ballyhar hit back before the break thanks to a Luke Ring goal. Into the second half Ballyhar drew level through Hugh Walsh and then went ahead when Hugh Walsh scored.

With five minutes to go things changed again when Darragh Looney scored to send the game into extra time. And with no more goals the game was decided on penalties with Athletic scoring all six and Ballyhar missing their last spot kick.

TUCKER KELLY UNDER 16 CUP

INTER Kenmare will be in the hat for the next round as they defeated Killorglin B by the odd goal in five. Jamie O’Regan got two and Corey Murphy the third at Inter progress. THE Park continue to fly the flag for Kerry soccer as they have reached the semi-finals of the Under 15 National Cup.

They did this be defeating Kells Blackwater 1-0 at Christy Leahy Park. The goal came in the final minutes of the game when Odhran Ferris finished off a Nathan Rogers corner.

They win was even more remarkable as this Park side have just supplied eight players to the Kerry Under 15 League of Ireland squad and had to call up a number of Under 14 players.

The reward for the Park is a home tie in the last four when Stella Maris will be the visitors to Tralee.
