Holy Family take Urban 3 title
DIVISION 3 URBAN FINAL
Holy Family 2-8 Fossa 0-7
THIS final saw the pairings meet for the third time this year as both schools qualified from the same groups following the phase 1 and phase 2 of the round robin leagues earlier in the term.
On those two occasions Holy Family had won one of the games and the other finished all square, but on this occasion the Rathmore boys got the all important early goal to settle them. Fossa landed three well-taken points from Dylan O’Meara (2) and midfielder and captain Karl James O’Neill, but Holy Family responded with efforts from Evan O’Sullivan, Conor
Moynihan and two beautiful points from David Darmody.
Sarah Mahoney’s early goal ensured that the Sliabh Luachra outfit led 1-4 to 0-3 at the break.
With nine minutes remaining only a goal separated the sides as we saw Fossa try desperately to close the gap but the all important second goal was scored by Holy Family following an excellent counter attack with Daniel O’Connor finishing to the net. A point from Sean McAuliffe ensured that there was no way back for Fossa as Holy Family retained the title.
Along with the scorers Grace Murphy, Alex Thompson and Cathal Casey were best for Scoil an Teaghalach Naofa while goalkeeper Jamie Vousden, James O’Meara, Fionn Doyle and Mark Kennedy were to the fore for
Fossa.
