Pat to climb for Irish Parental Awareness
THE call for support from Ireland’s best-known adventurer Pat Falvey to climb Carrauntoohil to raise awareness of Irish Parental Alienation (IPA) is underway.
Pat is the first person in the world to complete the Seven Summits twice by climbing Mount Everest from its north and south sides.
But the focus is very much about home for the present as Pat will climb Carrrauntoohill on Monday, November 9th and 11th at 10:30am - 4:30pm to raise awareness of Parental Alienation in Ireland.
What is Parental Alienation? This is where one parent is wrongfully influencing their child or children against the other parent, thereby creating unfair and unwarranted alienation that can be destructive and life lasting.
This was recently recognised as a health disorder by the World Health Organisation, which negatively affects children and parents. It has been listed as a criminal offence in several countries worldwide.
“Irish Parental Alienation is a serious issue and one that is important to highlight,” said Pat.
“A child that has been alienated from a parent can be devastating. Andrew Teague, a parental alienation campaigner, and I are climbing Carrauntoohil on Saturday 9th November and Monday 11th November respectivelly to highlight this serious condition. I am calling on all parents- those who are affected and those who aren’t, to come out and support me and Andrew. You can climb, or come to cheer us on,” he added.
Because of parental alienation, a child may ally themselves strongly with one parent and reject a relationship with the other parent. To register visit “Carrauntoohil Climb For Kids” Facebook page. For more info on IPA, contact Ciara Jordan: ciara@fuzion.ie
