From Brexit to climate change, Food Fair will inform and entertain
TASTE buds are at the ready for the 2019 Listowel Food Fair, which gets underway this Thursday evening and runs from November 7-11.
Listowel Food Fair has established itself as one of Ireland’s major food fairs, and the fact it is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year is a measure of its ongoing success.
The line-up of events for this year is, as ever, packed with something for everyone. So whether you just want to sample the culinary flare on show, or learn more about food production and preparation - this is the perfect event.
Through the inclusion of educational events, Listowel Food Fair establishes a deeper understanding of the relationship between producers, suppliers, chefs, restaurants and consumers.
The five-day event starts on Thursday evening at The Listowel Arms where a celebration of 25 years of Listowel Food Fair takes place. This will be in honour of the late Johanna Watkins, who was instrumental in the formation of Listowel Food Fair in 1995.
Minister of State for Food, Forestry & Horticulture, Andrew Doyle, will give a talk at the ‘Farming in Kerry’ event. Mike Gill, Chief Scientist with Met Eireann’s Valentia Observatory
will talk about climate change.
Food tastings, baking workshops, cookery demos, Atlantic seafood tastings, discussions about food and health, vegetarian options, street food and a taste of Italy is just a sample of what to expect at Listowel Food Fair 2019. Visit www.listowelfoodfair. ie for more information.
