Over 4,000 attend National Dairy Show in the Green Glen’s

-

MORE than 4,000 people attended the 37th annual National Dairy Show in Millstreet’s Green Glen’s Arena recently, and those who called in were not left disappointed, all thanks to a fine array of cattle, demonstrations and trade stands.

The show tries to have something for everyone, and with a record number of trade stands on-site, it was clear organisers did their level best to achieve exactly that.

There was also no shortage of competition taking place on the day, with ‘Lisnalty Megasire Rituel’, exhibited by Paul Hannan, winning the National Dairy Show Supreme Champion prize, for instance.

The Kelliher’s Feeds-sponsored ‘Best Udder’ prize went to ‘Baldonnel Flashmatic Dawn’, exhibited by the Dowlings. Kellihers Feed and Agri Supplies also sponsored the Best Jersey Champion category.

The Champion was ‘Clandeboye Oliver-P Marble’, exhibited by Padraic Greenan, with the reserve prize going to Gabriel Lotto Laura, exhibited by Robert Shannon.

An honourable mention, also, went to ‘Ballyealan Tequila Daisy’, exhibited by Tom Lynch.

“It’s certainly a challenge every year to think of new ideas to enhance the show, and this year we were delighted to introduce informative, bitesize seminars from leading companies in the agricultural industry to give some insight to help farmers in their day to day business,” said Show Director John Kirby.

“We hope the wide and varied programme of events at the Show offered something for everyone”.
