HOLY SOULS

As the weather grows colder and the leaves fall, and with Christmas fastly approaching, it is natural that our thoughts turn to those whom we have loved and who are no longer with us. We should always remember our dead family and relatives throughout the year, especially on the anniversary of their death, but we should be also very mindful of their passing on this the Month of the Holy Souls, during this the month of November. As followers of Jesus, our remembrance of our dead is faith based. We recognise and recall their memory by what they had done while with us in this life we also acknowledge that they are in our midst, and hope one day to be reunited with them. So during this month of the Holy Souls why not visit your church and family graves and say a little prayer for those who mean so much to us.

A HISTORIC OCCASION

Not too often do we get the chance to celebrate historic occasions of any nature in the Community, but when they do occur we should acknowledge record and celebrate them. So on Sunday last sporting history was made nationally when Shamrock Rovers won the FAI Cup Final beating Dundalk in a penalty shootout, what has this to do with local interest one might ask, well the answer to this is that a young man by the name of Garry O’Neill secured victory for Shamrock Rovers by scoring a shootout penalty securing victory for the Dublin side over Dundalk. Garry O’Neill has now become the first

Kerryman to win a FAI Cup medal, but more importantly the said sportsman has very strong Bally connections as his Dad Tony originally hails from Rusheen where Garry often visits to see his grandmother Kay and family relatives. It is a wonderful occasion and sincere congratulations is extended to all the family.

HALLOWEEN

Last week I made reference to the fact that there were Public meetings held in regards to unsavory behavior witnessed by people of the community in recent times. Well the good news is that thankfully this year’s Halloween Holiday passed without incident and this was mainly attributed to the work of both our Adult and in particular our young Adult community who rallied around and provided an ever presence in the village from early to late on Halloween night. It is amazing the work that can be done once a Community unites in efforts to get things done. Great credit and thanks is due to all these people who are also involved in various organizations in the Community and of course not forgetting the presence of the Gardai who kept close taps on the situation. So well done to everybody for showing, maintaining safety, respect for the people, and property of our Community. Word has it that next year some sort of Halloween Fest will be organized. Well done to all concerned.
