IRISH RAMBLING HOUSE SHOW TOUR
Irish Rambling House Tour. Once again Lyreacrompane was much to the fore among the Irish Rambling House Show singers, musicians, dancers and storytellers who have just returned from entertaining the exiles in England. Organisers and Lyreacrompane natives, Kay O’Leary and Joe Harrington were on their 22nd trip in twenty years. The venues this year were the Irish World Heritage Centre in Manchester, the Irish Centre in Birmingham and the London Irish Centre in Camden where the group put on two shows. In all, twenty-one people travelled on the O’Shea’s Coach from Tralee.
Local entertainers, Katie Galvin, singer, fiddle player and dancer, Aoife Murphy on accordion and Sean Nos dancer Caoimhe Lyons, were part of what exiles said was the best show they had seen. Lyreacrompane exile, Helen (Harrington) Schisas, returned from Australia to accompany the group as a backstage support. Also backstage was Geraldine Murphy. In all, fifteen of the group were from Kerry. The others were from Cork, Limerick and Clare. They included the much-respected singer, Elle Marie O’Dwyer and the internationally travelled Darren Roche who was between gigs with his band Moxie. The sound engineer was Billy Donegan.
This Irish Rambling House tour was notable also because the show in Birmingham was the last show in the Irish Centre here. The Birmingham Irish Centre is to be demolished early in the new year.
This all new Irish Rambling House Show will be staged in Siamsa Tire on Wednesday, December 4 under the auspices of Radio Kerry. The latest Irish Rambling House DVD is now out. It features the group’s last sold out show at the Killarney Racecourse Auditorium. The activities of the Irish Rambling House can be followed on www.irishramblinghouse.com

VIDEO RACE NIGHT
The annual video race night organised by Mountcollins GAA will once again be held in Tommy Micks Bar in December with a date yet to be finalised. This is a vital fundraiser for the GAA club and is their main fundraiser for the year. The GAA club as well as the Bord na Nog cater for teams from under 6 to senior level. Club members will be calling to houses throughout the parish over the coming weeks where you will have the opportunity to buy a horse, jockey or groom for €10 to be in with a chance of winning prize money on the night. All support would be greatly appreciated.
AWARDS NIGHT
The annual Bord na Nog awards night was held in the Community Centre on last Sunday evening before a large attendance. Special guests for the evening were Limerick hurling captain Declan Hanson and Fr. Casey’s Ladies football captain, Norma Browne.Mountcollins Bord na Nog enjoyed a successful year with many highlights including a wonderful display by our players in Croke Park during the year. All players received presentations as a reward for their outstanding effort in training and matches. The under age committee are to be complemented on their work at under age level. A lot of hard work goes into training and managing these groups but with the excellent structure now in place the future of under age football in the parish is in safe hands. Well done to all.
