TOM HEALY TOURNAMENT:

Lixnaw Under-15’s were worthy winners of the Tom Healy’s 9-Aside Under-15 tournament organised by the Abbeydorney club on the evening of Friday 25th October. Following a 2-11 to 2-4 win over St Brendan’s in the semi-final, they overcame Ballyduff in a keenly contested final, winning by 1-7 to 0-6. Well done to all the panel and their management team.

Under-21: For the second year running Lixnaw lost out in the final of the county under-21 hurling championship. On bank holiday Monday we were defeated by a very fit and highly motivated Kenmare Kilgarvan Dr Crokes combination at Austin Stack Park. The winners, with a significant wind to their backs, were quickly out of the blocks and after eight minutes led by 1-03 to 1 point, with the aid of a goal from a penalty. Lixnaw did succeed in reducing the deficit but a second goal for the South Kerry side saw them retire at half time leading by 2-08 to 9 points. Lixnaw started the second half strongly and a goal direct from a sideline ball by Shane Conway helped to reduce the gap to the minimum. However the winners finished the better side and ran out winners by 2-16 to 1-14. Lixnaw; David Silles; Darragh McElligott, Liam Mullins, Niall Cullen; Dara Shannon (Aidan O’Brien HT), Conor O’Keeffe, Matthew Pike; Brian McAuliffe in the Community Centre.
