John Mitchel’s GAA Club to host Christmas Markets…

-

THE success of last year’s decision by Tralee Chamber Alliance to erect a marquee to shelter musicians and choir singers was such a success that it returns again for this Christmas. The ‘ Tralee Marquee’ will be in the Square on Fridays and Saturdays from December 5th to 20th and is available free of charge to singers and local school groups hosting annual collections.

Last Christmas proved that by having a marquee it helped create its own special atmosphere as it produced a focal point for entertainment. Singers and musicians will be covered for the festive season which means rain won’t dampen the spirits.

JOHN Mitchel’s GAA Club is getting ready to host a fabulous series of Christmas Markets at its club grounds in Ballyseedy on the weekends of December 7th and 8th, and December 14th and 15th, from 11am to 5pm.

It follows the hugely successful markets from last year, which is why they decided to push the boat out again in 2019 by making it all about ‘Santa’s Magical Experience’. Over 50 stalls will be there with something for everyone from local traders, craft makers, artists and food artisans selling their wares.

Some of the stalls on show will be Valerie O’Donnell with her fabulous handmade cards and frames; Christina Bennett will be selling her 3D Christmas cards and gift boxes; ‘Flowers by Jen’ will see Jennifer O’Leary selling her fabulous floral arrangements; Ciara Hurley will be showcasing her hand made products such as cushions, bags and hair accessories; Natalie Thornton of ‘ Thornton Cakes’ will have all your tasty festive

The range of musicians and talented singers on display last year was impressive. Carol singers alone add an incredible atmosphere to Tralee town centre, as well as being valuable fundraisers for various local charities and projects. The sight of school children and teachers under umbrellas in the driving rain while singing festive Carols is now a thing of the past thanks to the marquee.

The marquee also plays a major part in the October Bank Holiday Weekend events making it a hugely progressive idea for Tralee Town Centre. For information about booking a place in the marquee, contact david@tralee.ie, as places are filling fast. cakes sorted with some of her delicious Christmas range; artist Katie Plum will be selling paintings, postcards and calendars, while Anne Flood will be displaying her hand painted/ crafted decorations. This is just a sample of the stalls that will be there.

For the children there is the fabulous ‘Santa’s Cave’ to look forward to where kids receive a gift and get to meet the man of the moment. There’s also lots of other fun activities planned for each day so excitement and fun is given full priority. Proceeds from the events go towards supporting juvenile development within the club.

It’s a hands on effort by club personnel so you’ll not only be enjoying a festive occasion, you will be rewarding the people who put so much time and effort into making it possible.

Cost is €10 per child, which gives adults access to the Christmas Markets. There is also free parking on club grounds.
