Students share insights on marketing
STUDENTS of Marketing from Sacred Heart University shared their expertise with local businesses last Thursday as they outlined ways that they could more effectively promote their services.
During the presentations in An Díseart, the businesses heard how their marketing, and in particular online marketing, was viewed by young American students.
The marketing strategy of three adventure and outdoor activities based businesses were assessed by students fron the American university under the direction of their tutor Dr. Enda Mc Govern. The businesses included Dingle Surf, run by Ben Farr and Celtic Nature Expeditions run by Claire Galvin and Kevin O’Shea.
This is the sixth year that students from SHU have studied local businesses and the co-operation between local businesses and Sacred Heart
University is considered beneficial to all involved.
“The students are always indebted to each of the business owners for the valuable time they give to the student body. Working on the business project and presenting their findings is the highlight of their student experience” said Professor McGovern. “They are forever grateful to the people of the Dingle Peninsula for the warmth of their welcome during their time here” he added.
The assessments and suggestions provide local businesses with an outside viewpoint and is particularly apt at a time when Dingle Peninsula Tourism is seeking to develop the market for tourists in North Eastern America.
“It’s always good to have fresh eyes, a view from a different generation, an opportuntity to talk to them about what we do,” said Kevin O’ Shea of Celtic Nature Tours.
