DUAGH/LYRE COMMUNITY GAMES
ANNUAL AWARDS NIGHT
Last Friday night wild and blustry on the outside but in Duagh NS it was cosy and entertaining as Duagh/Lyre Community Games held their annual awards night. Duagh/ Lyre Community Games awards night recognises all participants for their efforts in participating for their area in events and activities such as Art, handwriting, gymnastics, music, athletics, team sports namely: basketball, soccer, futsal, tag rugby and draughts for 2019. Duagh/Lyre excelled in many areas during the year in County, Munster and National events.
This success was largely due to the hard work of participants supported by their parents, families and community games committee. The awards night was well attended, great thanks goes to parents as we are aware that in the busy lives that we live it can be hard to find time but these memories are treasured along the way by our youth. The awards were presented by Norma Doran and Sheila Cahill members of Duagh/ Lyre steps to health team and Susan Galvin. MC on the night was Nelius Collins. Entertainment was provided by Sadie and Michael Duffy who danced a reel on stage, Caoimhe Harte who sang =93Someone you loved=94 and Tara, Oisín and Daibhéad who rocked the village with their two classic hits. The talent received rapturous applause from the audience, showing that there is an abundance of talent out there in our area. Representing our area in County competitions we had over 100 participants and each participant received a trophy to mark their efforts.
