Brains to burn at Listowel Credit Union schools’ quiz
TALK about smarts! When children from across the greater Listowel area came together to contest the Listowel Credit Union schools quiz on Friday they left the adults reeling.
Their brain power was something else, as they answered question after question after question over the course of the gruelling general knowledge test –getting most of them right in the process!
Some, of course, got more right than others as the annual quiz put two age groups to the test – the under-11s and the under-13s. Lisselton and Dromclough National Schools emerged victorious in the u-11s and u-13 respectively, and now move forward to regional competition.
Held in Presentation Secondary School Listowel on Friday night the quiz saw 33 teams in all across both age categories competing, representing no fewer than 13 primary schools.
“In what is always a very competitive atmosphere, most teams were in close contest to the very end,” Listowel Credit Union Marketing Manager
Ashley Fitzgerald said.
“Our annual quiz continues to grow in popularity and is a firm favourite in the calendars of our local schools.
“We are delighted to encourage these enthusiastic students and test their knowledge on a wide variety of topics. Congratulations to all our winners and a special thank you to all the schools for their continued support.” Both winning teams will now represent Listowel Credit Union at the Chapter 23 Finals being held on March 1 at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel.
