The Kerryman (North Kerry)

Family of late Cahersiveen man Jerry thank everyone who showed such kindness

-

HELEN, Scott, Dylan, the Coffey and Reidy families and our extended families in Counties Kerry and Clare would like to thank you most sincerely for the outstanding support you all showed us after our beloved Jerry Coffey’s sudden passing.

The shock was and is still overwhelming, but the acts of kindness, love and support are equally overwhelming, and it is because of this we are still upright.

To Jerry’s ESB employers and work colleagues. To our employers and work colleagues. To our neighbours and friends:

Thank you.

For all your Mass cards personal cards and beautiful letters; words of condolences, memories recalled from home and abroad. For the flowers; food; phone calls; text messages; hugs and tears; babysitters; offers of accommodation; listening ears: Thank you.

To all who lit a candle and said a quiet prayer; to those unable to attend but were thinking of us; to the people who visited and still continue to visit family: we thank you.

Unfortunately such loss has happened to us and is happening to other families on a daily basis. So God bless you all for doing what you all do best in showing your support.

To Fr Larry Kelly, Cahersiveen; and Fr Paddy McMahon, Leabasheeda.

To Noel O’Halloran Undertakers, County Clare. The Garvey Undertakers and to Daly’s Funeral Home in Cahersiveen.

To the first responders in Kildysart.

To the ambulance staff at Kilrush and Ennis stations.

To the Gardaí at Kilrush and Cahersiveen stations.

To Shannondoc and 999 services, Clare. To Cross’s Undertakers, Limerick City. Thank you all for your professionalism and the respect you showed to Jerry and to us. Without you, we would have been lost.

To all who took part in Jerry’s Funeral Mass. To the Cahersiveen Men’s Choir, to Cormac and our nieces and nephew for the beautiful music and altar-serving. To Caroline, Mary and the Cahersiveen Parish Committee for ensuring everything was organised to perfection.

To the owners and staff of the Ring of Kerry Hotel, The Shebeen bar, Mike Murts, Kevy Murphy and family.

To the guard of honour from the ESB, and to the members of St Michaels-Foilmore GAA club: Thank you.

It was in our opinion a true sign of the Christian faith as hundreds of people, local and otherwise, stood beside us.

People who took flights and got into their cars and drove for hours to say farewell to Jerry.

Driving down to South Kerry on that Monday night, Christmas lights twinkled in the background, led by Jerry’s ESB colleagues, yellow vans, flashing lights through Ballydarrig, Deelis and Carhan Road.

People standing out on their driveways with candles lit welcoming Jerry home. It was an emotional and beautiful gesture that will live in our memory forever.

To quote a friend: “Jerry’s switch was turned off suddenly, but the light continues to shine”

Mass will be offered for your own private intentions in the coming weeks.

Jerry’s month’s mind Mass, combined with his mother Kitty’s third anniversary Mass, will be celebrated in the Daniel O’Connell Memorial Church on Saturday, February 22, at 7.30pm

Saint Padre Pio was a favourite of Jerry’s. In a weird and wonderful way, he keeps popping up to us and guiding us through it all.

Please God Jerry is now with his family and friends gone before him and all are at peace.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh
