Munster awards for Kerry athletes

SEVERAL of Kerry’s finest athletes were recognised at the Munster Star Awards last Saturday at the Tower Hotel in Waterford. The Kerry Indoor and Track and field awards went to Cillian Griffin (Tralee Harriers) and Alyce O’Connor (Kenmare AC). Alan O’Connor (Tralee Harriers) won the Senior Men’s Indoor and Track and Field Award. Niamh O’Mahony (An Ríocht) was recipient of the Kerry Juvenile Cross-country Award and Star of the Laune athlete Ann Mangan took home the Cross-country award for Master Women.
Munster Schools Cross-country
THERE were two venues for Munster Schools Cross-country last Thursday. The North Munster Schools were held in Pallaskenry, Co. Limerick and Tramore Valley Park, Cork was the venue for the South Munster Schools Championships. The top 15 individuals and top 4 teams in each age category qualify automatically for Munster Schools XC on Thursday February 13 in Clarecastle GAA, Co Clare.

Minor Girls - 5. Marina Eagar, Intermediate School Killorglin; 6. Holly Arthur Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine Kenmare
Intermediate Girls - 4. Shauna McCarthy Killorglin Community
College; 6. Kerry Eagar Intermediate School Killorglin
Minor Boys - 1. Adam Quigley, Col. na Sceilge; 2. Kieran O’Donoghue Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine Kenmare
Senior Boys - 5. Darragh O’Leary, St. Brendan’s.
St. Brendan’s had the 1st team home in the Junior Boys and 2nd team in Intermediate and Senior Boys, Pres Killarney were 2nd team in Junior and Senior Girls, Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine Kenmare were 2nd team in Minor Boys, 3rd team in Minor Girls and 4th team in Senior Girls. North Munster

Intermediate Boys - Oisin O’Muiri, Gaelcolaiste Chiarrai.
Senior Boys - Oisin Spillane, Mercy Mounthawk.
Pres. Tralee had the 1st team home in the Senior Girls, Mercy Mounthawk was 2nd team in the Junior Girls and 3rd team in Junior Boys, Tralee CBS were 1st team in the Minor Boys and 3rd team in the Intermediate Boys, Pobalscoil Corca Dhuibhne were 2nd team in Minor Boys.
