DENNY DIVISION 1A

Strand Road 0 Castlegregory 1

(game abandoned at half-time)

CASTLEGREGORY came into this game six points clear at the top of the table and went in leading 1-0 at half time after enjoying the storm to their backs in the first half.

However Storm Dennis got extremely violent during the half time break and when the goalposts were blown down by the wind referee Denis O Rourke took the sensible decision to abandon the game.

Neither side complained too much as the safety of players was the top priority.

Castlegregory went ahead in the 11th minute when Brandon Hoare centred the ball to Damien Finn and he showed he still had the Midas Touch when it comes to scoring goals sending a delicious volley to the back of the net from 12 yards.

The West Kerry side continued to dominate the game for the rest of the half and despite forcing a litany of corner kicks were unable to add to their lead.

For their part Strand Road defended well and tried to hit on the counter attack every opportunity they got.

Strand Road must have been happy enough being just a goal down at the interval as they would have the storm to their backs in the second half.

However this is as far as the game went with the referee halting proceedings at the interval and it will be replayed at a later date.

STRAND ROAD FC: Paul O’Connor, Luke Bradley, Adrian Quirke, Simon Kedzierski, Jordan Bowler, Daryl Byrne, Alan Quirke, Padraig O’Connor, Tommy McCarthy, Shane McElligott, Padraig Gillespie.

CASTLEGREGORY FC: Eoin Kennedy, Dylan Hoare, Mossie Hogan, Shane Kenny, Alain Beaujouan, Stephen Speirs, Maurice Slattery, Damien Finn, Michael Scanlon, Alan McNamara, Brandon Hoare.

REFEREE: Denis O’Rourke

THE Park moved into second place in the table after a hard earned win over Listowel Celtic B. It was a game they needed to win to keep their title aspirations alive and they had to work hard to claim the three points against a spirited Listowel Celtic outfit.

Mervyn Shalemba, David Oba, Conor O’Callaghan and Adam Ward scored for the Tralee side and their best players were Adam Ward, Sebastian Vasiu and Mervyn Shalemba.

Graham Tarrant, Adam O’Carroll and Jack Sheehan scored for Listowel Celtic.
