BARDIC FESTIVAL

The BBF committee is currently planning the 2020 Bardic Festival, which is taking place from Thursday, March 19th–Sunday, March 22nd. Festival kicks off on Thursday with mass in St Theresa’s Church for the Aspiration­s of Young People. Friday night, Radio Kerry presenter, Joe McGill will launch the Festival at the Thatch.

Various workshops will be on Saturday, details available on www.ballydbard­fest.com. Concert featuring renowned musician, Donal Murphy and Breaking Trad on Saturday night at Tomaisin’s Function Room followed by Bryan Murphy in the main bar.

Sunday morning, the Thatch hosts the closing event with the very popular Open Mic/Coffee Morning session, which gives everyone a chance to recite their piece, sing a song, etc.

The committee is seeking sponsorshi­p/patronage, Gold E100.00, Silver E50.00, Bronze E25.00, Patronage E10.00. If interested please contact any member of the committee. Please note, all competitio­ns closing date is February 29th.

BPM

The committee of your Parish Magazine is actively sourcing material for the 2020 edition. Everyone has a part to play to ensure the continuati­on of this very successful publicatio­n. The competitio­ns are now open for entries. Maurice Walsh Creative Writing, Second Level, both Junior and Senior cycle, Primary School and Photograph­ic entries are welcome. Other items of interest include, stories about the RIC, house raids, etc.

Photograph­s of all family occasions, both at home or abroad are an important part of parish history and the Magazine is the all-important way to document them for posterity. Finally, names of people who died in 1920 and details of where they are interred. The committee will meet tonight, Wednesday, February 19th at Lisselton School. Time, 7.30pm.

COMPOSTING WORKSHOP

COMFORT 4 CHEMO FUNDRAISER

Con Carmody, Asdee thanks everybody for their very generous support for the recent Table Quiz in Jack Js. Total raised was E6,000 all of which goes to Comfort for Chemo Kerry. Well done to everyone involved.

LISSELTON SCHOOL ENROLMENT

Enrolment for September 2020 continues at Lisselton School. Forms are available by contacting the school on 068 47240. Parents and prospectiv­e students are welcome to visit the school any Monday throughout February and March from 2.15–3.00pm.

DEATHS

The death occurred suddenly on Saturday, February 8th of Irene Nolan, Lisselton Cross and formerly Farnastack. Irene, daughter to the late Jack and Josie, spent much of her working life in London, was a very active figure around Lisselton. She ran a very successful Bed and Breakfast and top class restaurant during the Summer and Listowel Races some years back. Sympathy is extended to her brothers, Fr Joe and Con, her sister, Marianne (US), sister-in-law, Maureen, nephew, nieces, cousins and friends.

The death has occurred of Mattie Breen, Ballyconry. Predecease­d by his brothers, Bob and John, sisters, Annie (Flahive, Tralee), Peg (Burns, Ballyduff), Kathy (Dunne, Ballyduff).Sympathy is extended to his sister-inlaw, Ita, his nieces and nephews, to their extended families, his neighbours and friends. CLOTHES RECYCLING DRIVE

Sliabh a’ Mhadra N.S. is having a Clothes Recycling Drive on Thursday 27th February. Please donate all your old clothes, shoes, belts, handbags, bed linen, towels and curtains. These bags of clothing can be placed in the school bicycle shelter on the evening of February 26th or from early morning to 10.00am on Thursday February 27th. We would like to thank everyone who contribute­d to our last collection which was a great success.
