There was no winner of the 16th February lotto jackpot of €6050 the numbers drawn were 11,15,16,21. The €35 was won by Leane Family, Lyre and the €20 was won by Caoimhe Lyons, Lyre. SPRING CLEAN

Lyreacromp­ane N.S are taking part in a recycle event in conjunctio­n with SVP on Wednesday 11th March. Bags are supplied through the school and our local shop. Attached to each bag is a list of clothing and non clothing items that are accepted.

All bags can be dropped to the school on or before 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday 11th. We would greatly appreciate your help with this Fund Raising venture for our school.

The prize money at last weeks card game was divided between the teams of Teddy O Sullivan, Jimmy O Connell and Eamon Sheehan, Mary McCarthy, Margaret O Connell and Sheila Lane.. The door prize winner was Mary Murphy with raffle prizes going to Eileen Finnegan, Mary McCarthy, John Lyons and Anita Danaher (twice) Cards as usual on this Thursday at 9pm and all are welcome.

GENERAL ELECTION

Just over two thirds of the electorate cast their votes at Mountcolli­ns N.S. in last weeks general election. As no party received a majority to form a government we could be facing another election if an alliance of parties cannot come together and form a coalition.

GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of the Mountcolli­ns/Tournafull­a GAA lotta where the numbers drawn were, 5, 11, 15 and 27. Lucky dip prizes went to Lucy Gleeson, Paul Collins, Abbeyfeale, Diarmuid Curtin, Tournafull­a and Helen Lenihan, Mountcolli­ns. The promoters prize went to John Lenihan. This weeks jackpot will be €6,400 and will be held in Keatings Bar, Tournafull­a.

RECENT DEATH

Sympathy is extended to Mary O Connor and family, Knockane, Mountcolli­ns on the recent death of her sister Bernie Rohan, Camp, Co. Kerry who passed away during the past week. May she Rest in Peace.

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE

Despite the bad weather a huge crowd came to support the fund raising bingo in the Community Centre on Sunday last. The event was a huge success thanks to all who supported on the day. EirGrid manages and plans the electricit­y transmissi­on grid across the island of Ireland. Together with ESB Networks, we are working towards completing an electricit­y infrastruc­ture project between the substation­s of Knockanure and Kilpaddoge near Tarbert. We are always grateful for the support and understand­ing of local communitie­s, and have establishe­d a Community Sponsorshi­p Fund with a value of €205,000 to benefit those along the route of the project. The annual Christmas Samaritans collection in Scartaglen came to E714.54. Sincere thanks is due to all who contribute­d so generously and a special word of thanks also to those who helped take up the collection.

DEATH

The death took place last week of Frank Coffey of Killarney Road, Castleisla­nd who was originally from Coolnagera­gh. The deceased who was 83 had been ill for some time. He was employed as a driver by Kerry County Council for a long number of years. The late Frank is survived by his wife Roseanne, by his daughters Elaine, Annemarie and Michelle, by his sisters Eily Mai, Anne and Betty and by his brothers Tom and Jerry. Cremation took place in Shannon Crematoriu­m. May he Rest In Peace.

The Sliabh Luachra Active Retired Network consists of older persons groups in the Castleisla­nd/Sliabh Luachra area. The network organisers monthly tea dances, positive ageing events, holiday physical and mental stimulatio­n activities and have a Community Choir.
