Anna and Colin in running for the Fashion Designer of the Year

TWO brilliant artists of the fashion world homegrown in North Kerry are in the running for the Irish industry’s big honour – the Fashion Designer of the Year category of the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards.

Listowel’s Anna Guerin and Ardfert native Colin Horgan fly the flag for Kerry and innovative fashion in the 2020 Fashion Designer of the Year Awards after both were nominated this week.

To be announced in a gala ceremony in Galway at the end of March, the Awards recognise the striking recent work of each designer, requiring them to present six complete outfits in a single collection.

The individual talents in the running for the award testify to the diversity of vision existing in the Irish industry today.

Anna Guerin’s nomination was in recognition of her new brand The Dualist, launched last year to incredible acclaim while carving out a new niche for the fabric of tweed in a very modern way.

Anna’s harnessed the fabric to deliver the most elegant of garments, not least in terms of classic-looking coats and outerwear under the line.

A graduate of the Masters in Business in Digital Entrepreneurship, the Listowel woman has also leveraged the online world to the maximum in bringing the brand to attention.

Colin Horgan, meanwhile, is also regarded as one of the biggest upcoming stars of the Irish fashion world with a bevvy of high-end names to his cap already, having dressed the likes of popstars Lady Gaga and Dua Lipa to name but a few.

The former Mercy Mounthawk student launched his first individual collection in 2018, again to massive acclaim across the fashion world.
