Listowel’s Oonagh gets a helping hand from Keith to aid driving test

AFTER TWO FAILED ATTEMPTS, OONAGH TRIES UNCONVENTIONAL APPROACH TO CLEARING THAT HURDLE

LISTOWEL native Oonagh O’Carroll has had some strange and quirky experiences working as a radio presenter with iRadio in Athlone for the last number of years, but none as potentially life changing as this.

The life of a radio host is never straightforward, and you never know week to week what situations you are going to find yourself in. This was certainly the case for Oonagh earlier this month when she and her fellow radio host Aidan Power had the one and only Keith Barry in studio with them promoting his new show ‘Insanity’.

While there, Oonagh and Aidan were obviously keen to witness Keith’s abilities first hand, and with Oonagh a willing volunteer, Keith set out to help her get over one of the big hurdles in her life – passing her driving test!

Oonagh has been trying to pass her test for four years and is now facing into her third attempt, and so was willing to try any means necessary to get over the line.

In the video, which can now be seen on The Kerryman Facebook page, Keith is seen putting Oonagh into what she called a “really, relaxed state” as he asks her to visualise gearing up to take her test.

“As soon as you feel nerves, I want you to pinch the first two fingers and your thumb of your left hand together and, as you do that, I want you to let all those nerves dissipate and disappear,” Keith says to

Oonagh in the video.

“Instead, I want you to bring excitement and confidence into your body, confidence that you will have the full ability to pass your driving test,” says Keith.

After taking her visually through the entire process of passing her test, Oonagh is taken back out of her relaxed state.

“I feel good. I feel really great. My whole body is buzzing,” says Oonagh after waking up.

“Let me know when you pass your test!” Keith laughed.

As for her driving test, she told The Kerryman that she has booked the test and is now waiting on that all-important date with destiny.
