ITT course up for excellence award

-

THE Certificate in Building Information Modelling (BIM) with Revit at IT Tralee has been nominated for an Irish Construction Excellence Award in the category “Third Level Course – Postgraduate or CPD.”

The Certificate in BIM with Revit is offered as a four-month part-time online programme.

Using Revit and other software tools on their own computers, students undertake modelling and collaborative exercises to demonstrate their capacity to work on typical BIM projects.

Commenting on the nomination, course co-ordinator Tim Segal said the course is designed to demonstrate BIM practice to practitioners who are struggling with the early stages of BIM adoption.

“Participants are encouraged to bring their own personal experience from their particular field as a starting point and are given access to software for practical engagement. The nomination of this programme for an award like this is proof of the innovative approach of IT Tralee to upskilling those already in the workplace,” he said.

ITT Vice President Bríd McElligott said the college’s Lifelong Learning programme offering has grown significantly over the last number of years.

“This is due in part to the innovative approach ITT staff and their industry colleagues take when evaluating the skills needs for the region. Programmes like the Certificate in Building Information Modelling with Revit use online technology to ensure that no matter the hours you work, you will always have the opportunity to upskill and progress in your chosen field,” said Ms McElligott

“Congratulations to the School of STEM and Tim Segal for their leadership in this area.”

The Award ceremony takes place on March 28 in Dublin.
