The BBF committee is currently planning the 2020 Bardic Festival, which is taking place from Thursday, March 19th - Sunday, March 22nd. Festival kicks off on Thursday with mass in St Theresa’s Church for the Aspirations of Young People. Friday night, Radio Kerry presenter, Joe McGill will launch the Festival at the Thatch. Various workshops will be on Saturday, details available on www. ballydbardfest.com. Concert featuring renowned musician, Donal Murphy and Breaking Trad on Saturday night at Tomaisin’s Function Room followed by Bryan Murphy in the main bar. Sunday morning, the Thatch hosts the closing event with the very popular Open Mic/ Coffee Morning session, which gives everyone a chance to recite their piece, sing a song, etc. The committee is seeking sponsorship/ Gold €100.00, Silver €50.00, Bronze €25.00, Patronage €10.00. If interested please contact any member of the committee. Please note, all competitions closing date is Saturday next, February 29th.

BPM:

The committee of your Parish Magazine is actively sourcing material for the 2020 edition. Everyone has a part to play to ensure the continuation of this very successful publication.

The competitions are now open for entries. Maurice Walsh Creative Writing, Second Level, both Junior and Senior cycle, Primary School and Photographic entries are welcome. Other items of interest include, stories about the RIC, house raids, etc. Photographs of all family occasions, both at home or abroad are an important part of parish history and the Magazine is the all-important way to document them for posterity. Finally, names of people who died in 1920 and details of where they are interred.

HISTORIANINRESIDENCE

Congratulations to Tom Dillon, Ennismore on his recent appointment as Historian in Residence at Kerry Co Co. Tom is son to Anne-Marie Kissane, Moybella and Tommy Dillon. Tom has a long association with Ballydonoghue Parish Magazine and was the chief organiser of the highly successful World War Pageant to celebrate National Heritage Week in the parish last August.

SCHOOLENROLMENT

Enrolment for September 2020 continues at Lisselton School. Forms are available by contacting the school on 068 47240. Parents and prospective students are welcome to visit the school any Monday throughout February and March from 2.15 - 3.00pm.
