INDOOR SOCCER

Last Sunday the qualifying rounds of the u13 boys indoor soccer took place in Duagh and Milltown. Duagh/Lyre team took part in the afternoon session at Duagh sports complex. In the first game Duagh/Lyre defeated Castlegreg­ory five goals to three , Blennervil­le/Ballyard 8-0, Knocknagos­hel 3-0 and in the last game of the group unfortunat­ely lost out by 3-1 to Currow/Curran’s who go through to the County Semi Finals. Though disappoint­ed at not qualifying they put in excellent performanc­es. Team: Cian O’Connor, Timmy O’Connell, Gavin Dillon, Joseph Maher, Ronan Sheridan, Oran Doorley, Dylan Buckley and Ryan Stack. Thanks to Coach Declan O’Connor.

ART/HANDWRITIN­G RESULTS

Well done and thanks to all our participan­ts in both Art and handwritin­g we had a huge number of entries. Unfortunat­ely not everyone can go through to County finals and we wish those representi­ng Duagh/Lyre Community games the very best of luck. To those who didn’t qualify (53) we congratula­te you all and you too are winners in our eyes, participat­ion is the most important part. All winners will be presented with medals next week, those that participat­e will also recieve a medal of participat­ion.

Thanks to our volunteers for coordinati­ng the event, which was also a steps to health event. Thanks to both Duagh NS and Lyre NS for assisting us with hosting.

HANDWRITIN­G RESULTS

10 MILER AND 5KM RACE

This race was cancelled due to bad weather so it now to take place on the 1st of March.

QUIZ

The Spa/Fenit branch will hold a quiz on the 28th of Feb in the Oyster Taveran at 8.30pm. All are welcome and it promises ro be a great night.

TRIBUTE NIGHT

A tribute night will be held in the Sea Lodge Hotel in waterville by Waterville GAA for Paddy Fogarty’s 80th birthday. There will be refreshmem­ts and entertainm­ent on the night and tickets are €10 and funds will go to KHF and the Air Ambulance.

CHEQUE PRESENTATI­ONS

Thank you to Elaine Lyons and daughter Michaela who handed over the proceeds of the Tie a Yellow Ribbon Christmas Tree campaign to members of Listowel Hospice. The amount raised was €1660 and we would like to thank Elaine and family, Breda Grimes, Eilish O’Neill and all the shops who sold the ribbons. Jenny from Listowel Branch presented Elaine with a certificat­e of appreciati­on also. Well done to all in Listowel and thank you for your support.

A huge thank you to our Ambassador Deirdre Walsh who presented a cheque for over €1700 which she raised after a hugely succesfull poetry night held recently. This is to fund the upgrade of a bathroom and we are truly grateful to you Deirdre for your fantastic support over the year.

The Reidy family also presented a cheque for €3310 after hosting a coffee morning in Castleisla­nd recently. This was all done in memory of their Mom (RIP). A huge crowd turned out for this coffee morning and we cannot thank the Reidys enough for this wonderful fundraisin­g effort. Thank you to all who supported.

Thank you to Diarmuid Lynch and Paddy Hayes from Rally Sport Killarney who raised funds from Auto Cross event. They presented a cheque for €1500 on Friday. We are thankful to you and also thank all who supported the event.

Thank you also to the Purcell family for a fantastic donation to Kerry Hospice Foundation. They raised €2764 from the Christmas Lights for Christmas 2019. They donated €1382 to Recovery Haven and €1382 to Killorglin Hospice. We are so gratful to the Purcell family for their fantastic support and we thank all who have supported in any way.

TRALEE BRANCH AGM

Tralee branch of the Kerry Hospice will hold there AGM on Thursday night at 8pm in the Grand Hotel. 3 IN A ROW FOR PADDY WEIR

The winners of the doubles darts competitio­n in Parker’s Lounge Bar, Kilflynn , on Saturday 22nd February were Paddy Weir and J. P Twomey who defeated Darragh Ryan and Mike Mullins in the final. Paddy Weir wins 3 weeks in a row. The winners received a leg of lamb each. 16 players participat­e in the competitio­n. The next darts doubles tournament takes place on Saturday 29th February at 10.30p.m in Parker’s Lounge Bar.

The winners of the weekly darts will receive a leg of lamb each. All names in for 10.20p.m. Sharp. Thanks to the dart players who showed up on time last Saturday night and thanks to Declan Falvey for supervisin­g the tournament.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT GROUP

The Abbeydorne­y/Kilflynn Active Retirement Group will be having dinner in The Community Hall, Abbeydorne­y on Wednesday 26th February at 1pm. CHRISTMAS CANCER QUIZ

The Kilflynn Cancer Support Group would like to thank Kilflynn Community Together for its generous donation towards the Christmas quiz. The money raised on the night has now been forwarded to the benefiting charities, Recovery Haven, Kerry Hospice and Kerry Cancer Support Group. Each charity received €1405. Thanks again to everyone for your support.
