The Kerryman (North Kerry)

Action continues on limited scale

-

WHILE we lost our third Saturday of fixtures there were still a number of games played in mid-week in various league, while on Sunday there was action in the Under 12 and Under 14 Boys and Under 13 and Under 15 Girls Inter Leagues and Gaynor qualifiers.

JK SPORTS UNDER 12 Division 1

FENIT remain joint top of the JK Sports 12 Division 1 where they sit on 13 points for six games the same number of points as Inter Kenmare, but with a game in hand.

However, Fenit missed the chance to go top on their own when they went down 4-0 at home to Castleisland who are up to 5th. Jack Ryan had a game to remember getting all four goals for Castleisland.

SLATTERY’S CARPETS UNDER 14

Premier

ST Brendan’s Park lead the way in the Slattery’s Carpets Under 14 Premier, but were pushed all the way by Castleisland in their latest game. The game was tied at 1-1 at the break in Christy Leahy Park with Finn O’Neill scoring for the Park and Jack O’Donoghue getting the Castleisland goal.

In the second half O’Neill scored a second and Momhamed Abdalla added a third to give the Park all three points.

DALY’S SUPERVALU UNDER 15 Premier

KILLARNEY Celtic made it eight wins from eight games as they defeated Inter Kenmare 7-1. Luke O’Neill and Josh Bowler both scored two each with Eoghan Crowley, Javier Abad and Adrian Casey getting the other goals.

TUCKER KELLY UNDER 16 CUP

IN a game played on Sunday Ballyhar Dynamos made the better of the conditions in the second half of this Tucker Kelly Cup clash against MEK Galaxy in Murt Scott Park. The sides were tied 0-0 at the break, but four goals from James Horgan, two from Stephen Palmer and one from Noel McMahon sees Ballyhar Dynamos into the hat for round 2.

TRALEE TROPHY WORLD UNDER 16

Division 1 North

LB Rovers won 4-0 away to Fenit to move up to third. Kieran O’Connell hit a hat trick with Darragh Fitzpatrick also on the mark.

Congrats UNDER 13 GIRLS Division 1

KILLARNEY Celtic Green are now six points clear of Castleisland in the division, but they do have a game more played. On the mark in their win over Castleisland were Jessica Leggate and Emma Daly who both scored twice with Kate Ford and Megan Sheehan also on the mark.

THE League is delighted to congratulate Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine who were crowned Munster Schools Under 15 champions this week.

They defeated Scoil Mhuire Askeaton 2-1 thanks to goals from Saoirse Buckley and

Grace Foley. A number of girls who play with our Girls teams were in action with the Pobalscoil. They will play the Connacht winners in March.

GAYNOR CUP QUALIFIERS

THE Kerry Under 13s and 15s continued their Gaynor qualifiers with a trip to South Tipperary who are one of the top girls Leagues in the province. Katie Foster scored for the Under 13s who went down 4-1 in the end. Kerry had a couple of chances, especially in the first half, but it was the home side that took the win.

The South Tipperary Under 15s have been together for the last four years and were a little too strong for Kerry on the day.

They led 3-0 at the break and added three more, but there were positives for the Kerry girls who will have learned a lot from this game.

The Under 13s and Under 15s have three more games to decide which teams go into the Gaynor Cup section and the Gaynor Trophy section at the Tournament in UL in the summer.
