CLG Lios Póil puts a team effort behind club news

-

THOSE who popped in to Kate’s Cross, Keane’s Shop, O’Sullivan’s Bar, or Dingle Creamery in recent days might have noticed that CLG Lios Póil has taken on an exciting new initiative.

Copies of the club’s brand-new newsletter were available to pick up and take home, and those behind it are sure it’ll become an invaluable resource.

An e-version of ‘Cadráil Chaide’ was shared on the club’s social media pages, while copies were also available at the seniors’ first match of the 2020 County League at the weekend.

“We held a workshop at Halla John L Ó Súilleabháin in November, to create a three-year plan for the club,” said Lios Póil man and Kerryman reporter Tadhg Evans, who is one of many people involved with the newsletter. “Those who attended were split into sub-committees – each of which focus on a particular area within the club – and our group is focussing on public relations.

“Many great ideas have been put forward and are now being put into place across all areas, but on the media and PR side of things, it was suggested we release a newsletter, and a few of us have been working on that recently.

“It’s available online and in print – as was suggested to us – and it’ll be published bi-monthly, although we may publish more frequently at busier times of the year. It’ll cover football, scór, handball, lottery, anything GAA-related.

“It was very much a team effort, with Tony Bergin, Michael Griffin, and Chairperson Kevin Griffin all playing major editorial roles. We had many contributors, we’re very grateful to them, and we’re sure that many others will contribute as time goes on.

“We’re emphasising our bilingualism, and thanks to sterling work on the ‘as Gaeilge’ side of things by Roibeárd Ó Cathasaigh, the newsletter combines English and Irish seamlessly,” Tadhg added
