Tralee Chamber and Kerry ETB offer free upskilling courses

- By SIMON BROUDER

THE Kerry ETB and Tralee Chamber are calling on business owners and their staff to use the lockdown as an opportunity to upskill and develop their qualifications.

Kerry ETB have teamed up with Tralee Chamber to offer its business members and their staff with eCollege professional development courses at no cost.

They have worked with eCollege on a series of online courses which can be completed in approximately 10 hours per week, that includes online contact time and self-directed learning at home.

Tralee Chamber Alliance CEO Ken Tobin said the lockdown offers an opportunity to many workers to develop their skills and pass the time in fruitful way.

“With some businesses onhold right now, some Employers and their key staff will be in a position to take on a short course, not only to help occupy their week in a meaningful way, but also to provide them with some additional new skills to support their business.”

Sharon Browne of Kerry ETB said that if necessary the courses can be continued once the lockdown is over.

“Obviously the number of weeks duration varies for each course. You might also be interested to note that if we are all back to work in a few weeks and you have staff who have commenced but not completed courses, they will be able to continue on, even if they don’t have 10 hours a week to commit - in other words they can continue at their own pace and eCollege will extend the weeks where necessary,” she said

Full information is available at www.ecollege.ie and any business owners interested in signing themselves or key staff up for a free course is encouraged to contact sbrowne@ kerryetb.ie.

Tralee Chamber also is asking that business owners interested in upskilling or receiving support in any other areas, make contact with them by emailing business@tralee.ie.
