THE world may be in lockdown for the foreseeable future but the work of promoting Kerry continues
To that end the Kerry Convention Bureau (KCB) recently showcased the Kingdom as a unique business tourism destination to eight influential Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Event (MICE) event planners from across Ireland. THE representatives from the Destination Management Companies undertook a three-day program connecting them with local business event suppliers and operators.
THE trip focused on new products and experiences targeted at the MICE market along with highlighting the region’s commitment to sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Following a welcome at Great Southern Killarney, the group spent a full day meeting with Killarney KCB Member Hotels and venues and enjoyed lunch at Killarney Plaza Hotel.
Evening activities included a welcome reception at Killarney Brewing Company, where an overview of the new visitor experience and event space was provided.
During the Ring of Kerry tour, the group were shown MICE infrastructure and activities along the Wild Atlantic Way, with visits to the Kerry Bog Village, Aqua Terra boat tour, the new SkelligSix18 Distillery and a tour of Hogs Head Lodge.
“This was a fantastic opportunity to provide a detailed overview of what Killarney and the Ring of Kerry has to offer for business events and build strong relationships with the Dublin based suppliers who are actively out on the international stage, selling Ireland. While our other MICE destinations Tralee, Dingle and Kenmare were not featured in this itinerary, due to time limitations, a full overview of the regions MICE offering was shared with the group,” said KCB Manager Becky Hargrove.
By putting KCB and Kerry front of mind for them, we look forward to working closely with them to develop future business opportunities for the entire region as a result,” she added.
