COVID 19

Because of the unprecedented events of the past three weeks all classes, recitals, masterclasses, introductory camps and other performances organised by Kerry School of Music throughout the county which were suspended until Easter Sunday, April 19th have been further suspended until Tuesday, May 5th.

The health of our families, friends, partons, board of directors, teachers, administration staff, and students is of primary concern to us. While classes are suspended and our headquarters in High St. is shut, planning our wide range of services continues with undiminished energy.

REMOTE LESSONS

We are happy to report that nearly all teachers are providing remote lessons using applications such as Zoom, Facetime and Skype so that students can continue to progress. This applies particularly to one-on-one and small group lessons. File sharing or sheetmusic, video demos and other teaching/study resources is an ongoing practice and a very valuable resource to students.

STUDENT VIDEOS

Many students in all departments have responded to our video submission call. All videos, whether of work in progress or of finished performances are welcome in all areas including instrumental, vocal, music theatre and dance. Please send any videos to kerrymusicschool@eircom.net or to your teacher.

BORN TO DANCE

The Kerry School of Music Dance Academy Born to Dance showcase featuring students of Colette Maguire Jensen scheduled to take place in Siamsa Tire Theatre on Saturday, April 4th is deferred due to the closure of Siamsa Tire. It is now confirmed that the performance will take place on Sunday, October 4th at 1pm and 5pm.

RIAM EXAMS

We have just this week received information from the Royal Irish Academy of Music about the summer examinations. Teachers are being offered alternative arrangements by which they may preoceed to take the examinations in a modified form, defer the examinations to the next session or cancel and get a refund. Individual teachers will be in contact with their students and their parents to move this matter along.

RAD/ISTD EXAMS

A decision has been taken not to enter students for the Royal Academy of Dance or Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance summer examinations

THANKS

We thank you for your continued support of our endeavours and will resume our contact academic and performance programmes at the earliest possible juncture.
