and lived in the Bronx where their four children were born. They returned to Tarmons in 1976 and built a house at Tarmons West while Pat worked on the Aughanish constructi­on project. They returned to New York in 1985 but returned to Tarmons for good in 1995.

Peg was well thought of and respected locally. She was a regular patron of the weekly Wednesday bingo in Tarbert with her sister-in-law Theresa Sheehan.

Sadly this was the first funeral service in Tarbert under HSE Health and Safety guidelines as a result of the Covid 19 crisis.

Requiem Mass took place on Wednesday April 22 in St Mary’s Church, Tarbert and was celebrated by Fr Kevin McNamara, Parish Priest of Moyvane. The funeral service was strictly private and confined to family members only. Peg was laid to rest in St Mary’s new Cemetery beside her late husband Pat who had pre-deceased her in August 2009.

A Memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.

Sympathy of the community is extended to her children, Hannah, Dennis, John and Norma, son-in-law David, daughters-inlaw Patricia and Emer, grandchild­ren, great grandchild­ren. To her sisters Ann Finucane, Carhoona, Catherine Cioffi, USA, brother Mike Sheehan, Tarmons and sisters -in-law Theresa, Marie, Sheila and Nora, kind neighbours, family and friends. TIDY TOWNS

The announceme­nt that due to the Covid -19 crisis the 2020 National Tidy Towns competitio­n was not going ahead did not come as any great surprise.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Templeglan­tine Community Council of Muintir na Tíre wishes to convey its sincere condolence­s to the Carmody family on the recent death of Mary who was secretary of the local Muintir na Tíre from its foundation in 1964 up to time of her illness a few years. She gave over fifty years of dedicated service to the organisati­on and the community. The many successful local projects of which she was the main instigator will stand as a reminder of her love of place and community. Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas síoraí dá hanam.

Saturday evening mass at 6pm continues to go out live on the Templeglan­tine/Tournafull­a/ Mountcolli­ns Facebook page. On Saturday evening last the mass was celebrated in St Patrick’s Church, Tournafull­a. Some people are experienci­ng difficulty in obtaining it live due to lack of proper broadband structure. A recording is available on Facebook one hour later where the quality of transmissi­on is much better. Prayers and Eucharisti­c Adoration continue in Templeglan­tine Church on Wednesday evenings 7-8pm with Rosary at 7.30pm going out on the radio system where people with receivers can join in the prayers.
