KILMOYLEY
KILMOYLEY HURLING CLUB COMMEMORATION
Monday 11th May marked the centenary of the death of Mike
Nolan. The former Secretary of Kilmoyley hurling club lost his life following a shooting at an ambush site at Young’s turn, Ballymacandrew during the war of Independence on May 11th 1920 when Judge Whynne was on his way to a court sitting in Causeway.
At 11:15am last Monday morning, a wreath was laid by relatives and neighbours adjacent to a temporary cross erected at the spot.
JUVENILE HURLING CLUB
Our young hurlers were busy this week practicing their skills thanks to the work of the juvenile club.
A number of coaching videos were posted through social media encouraging our players to practice various skills and drills.
There was a fantastic response from players of age 6 to 16 with videos and photos submitted, and some showed wonderful examples of social distancing and neighbourhood hurling.
The club sponsored a prize of a Shane Brick hurley, and the lucky winner drawn, randomly chosen from the entries was Dermot Carroll.
Congratulations to Dermot! A compilation of the videos is posted on the Kilmoyley hurling club facebook page and is well worth checking. The great news is there will be more competitions announced by the club over the coming weeks and we would love to see even more of your videos being sent in.
Stay tuned for further training and coaching videos from our club coaches which will be issued through our club Secretary.
