GOOD NEWS STORY FOR BUD’S

We are completely opening our centre on Monday 29th June 2020. Everyone must adhere to social distancing guidelines and HSE public health advice including limits to the numbers of people at meetings. Thank you for your continued support and patience. Our valuable work is making a difference in the lives of children, families and our communities. Looking forward to see you all again from all the team in Bud’s F.R.C. Bud’s has a Meal on Wheels Home Delivery Service covering Ballyduff and many surrounding Parishes and a Pick-up collection Service from the Centre. Please contact us on (066)7148883 for Daily Menu at a cost €6 per person. We here in Bud’s for the pass 20 years have provided Free of charge counselling session for people in need of this service locally. It is a Private and Confidential Service. We received a grant every year but due to the Celtic Tiger Crash Recession our grant funding was halved but thankfully we are still receiving it. The way the funding is used is we continue free counselling sessions and as soon as the money runs out we we wait until the next years allocation. We do seek counselling through other suitable organisations and make referrals. Sometimes we notice people donate money to different worthwhile organisations but if you would think of us we would be grateful and thankful as the demands continue to grow on this service which includes Children’s Counselling and Play Therapy. Please join us when you can. Your donation today will help us provide free counselling therapy service. Thank youWe here in Bud’s would like to thank the generosity of people in Ballyduff and surrounding area who have and still support our donation appeal that help us to fill Food Hampers for those in need and struggling. Don’t ever think we forget, because we do not, and that’s why you need to know how much we appreciate your continued support. Thank you all on behalf of the people and families you support.

COISTE NA NÓG

Split the Bucket: Just to let everyone know that Split the Bucket is up and running again. The buckets can be found in all the businesses that are up and running again. The first draw takes place this Friday 12th in the Sportsfield. If you’re not in, you can’t win.Féile Memories: Over the next few weeks we’ll take a look back at one of the many Feile weekends that Ballyduff Coiste na nÓg have been lucky to be involved in. This weekend we look at 2018and the trip to Ardrahan. After months of training, preparation and fundraising the day finally arrived on Friday when the U14s team left Ballyduff to travel to Ardrahan, Galway for their Feile experience. Their first two matches were taking place in Kilbeacanty where they were facing Michael Cusacks from Galway at 5pm and Kilcormac/ Killoughey from Offaly at 7.15pm. The boys were anxious to get playing and this showed in the first match, as they came out firing on all cylinders and beat the home team 1 10 to 0 7 . Their second match was a different affair as they found themselves up against tougher opponents in the Offaly team. The match was a tight, tense contest and in the end Ballyduff were unlucky to find themselves a point down at the final whistle. It was a tough lesson to end the day, but credit to the team they bounced back and were all in good spirits when they met their host families later that evening.

Saturday morning we faced the host club of Ardrahan and came away with a victory of 2 - 6 to 0 - 8 which meant we came second in the group and qualified for the quarter final of the Cup against the Ratoath, Co. Meath later Saturday afternoon in Craughwell. The quarter final is where the heart and determination of this team really showed, the nerves and tiredness were put to one side and they fought back from an early deficit to go ahead in the second half and win by a goal to send them to the semi-final of the Cup. Unfortunately, this is where their Feile journey ended as they were beaten by an excellent side from Naas, who ended up eventual winners of Division 2. A huge thanks to the mentors, Noel, Joe, John & Tom who have put a lot of time and energy into this team, and who were on hand at every step over the weekend to look after the boys. It was heartening to see the supporters who made the long journey every day to cheer on the team and to the parents who lived every minute of every game on the sideline. Finally well done to the 25 boys who were outstanding the whole weekend and they should all be proud of their achievement. A special mention should go to their captain, Kieran O’Carroll, for his role in leading his team when things were going well and more especially when the going got tough. We should also draw attention to the super hospitality shown by Ardrahan GAA and the host families to the players and their families over the weekend. Hopefully we might be able to return the favour someday.
